View of the boatyards including Nash & Miller, on the Lambeth foreshore adjacent to Bishop's Walk and Lambeth Palace. Etched by William Strudwick after his 1860s photograph. Strudwick worked as an architect, photographer, etcher and writer. He lived for much of his life in Lambeth - his stamp, imprinted on the mounts of his photographs, states: 'W. Strudwick, Draughtsman and Photographer, Thurlow Park Road, W. Dulwich SE.' The 1884 Street Directory records him living at Albany Villa, No.68 Thurlow Park Road. However he died in the Infirmary at Croydon Workhouse and was buried in the Paupers' Cemetery.
