ANDREW CARNEGIE LETTER: CARNEGIE LIBRARY, HERNE HILL

Andrew Carnegie the philantropist writing from Skibo Castle in June 1902, to Lambeth Librarian Mr F.J. Burgoyne stating 'I will be glad to supply £12,500 for a branch library for district of Tulse Hill & Herne Hill to complete your library system'. The resulting library, named the Carnegie Library, was opened in Herne Hill Road on 6th July 1906.
