An ice store at No.5 Arch, Brad Street, Waterloo, for the North Pole Ice Company. The 128ft arch ran through to Wootton Street and was beneath the SE Railway Station (now Waterloo East). Until the use of refrigerators/ freezers became wide-spread and affordable, ice was often used for preserving food and creating desserts. From Drainage Records.
