RENUMBERING OF BRIXTON ROAD

RENUMBERING OF BRIXTON ROAD

A detail of the plan recording Brixton Road's renumbering from Camberwell New Road to Acre Lane. The annotation states this is a copy of the plan dated 6th January 1871, and the seal is that of the Metropolitan Board of Works. Standardisation of street numbering was deemed necessary as housing stocks rapidly grew, and to assist the Post Office's deliveries.
