NEWPORT STREET GALLERY, LAMBETH

NEWPORT STREET GALLERY, LAMBETH

The Newport Street Gallery from Old Paradise Street, Lambeth, was built by Caruso St John Architects for the artist Damien Hirst and opened in October 2015. The £25million project added flanking wings to several Victorian theatrical scenery workshops used by Hirst since 2002 as studios, creating a 37,000 sq ft, state-of-the-art gallery to exhibit works from the artist's collection of over 2,000 artworks. Hirst is adamant that admission will be free for the public, hopefully inspiring a new generation of artists in the way that he was in his youth with access to art galleries.Digital photograph dated 24th October 2015.
