A 'Plan of Herne Hill Abbey...to be Sold at Auction by Messrs Vigers 27 Feb 1866.' The vendor was London, Chatham and Dover Railway, part of their 5th Surplus Sale. By 1891 the Abbey was on the market again, but this time advertised as suitable for a 'lucrative building scheme'. It was subsequently demolished and the site redeveloped.From 'History and Antiquities of Camberwell' by W.H.Blanch, with additions by W.F.Noble.
