WILLIAM ETCHES, DCM RECIPIENT, BATTLE OF LOOS, WORLD WAR I

A report of the reception given to Sapper William Etches at his old school in Sussex Road, Brixton. Private Etches was awarded the Distinquished Service Medal for conspicuous bravery at Loos when he continued to work as a stretcher bearer, although having been wounded himself during the battle on 26th September 1915 with the Royal Engineers.
