A map of Herne Hill with a highlight to show the location of John Ruskin's home - No.28. He lived here with his parents from 1823 until 1843. Ruskin moved with his family to Denmark Hill where he lived until 1871. The Herne Hill house was demolished in the summer of 1914. Beyond at the top of the map is a large dwelling known as Herne Hill Lodge, formerly Herne Hill Cottage, the home of operatic soprano Ann ('Nancy') Storace (1766 - 1817). From a plan of the freehold estate belonging to Samuel Saunder Esq., dated 1844.
