The stock well in the grounds of Mr James Mayo, 2 Belle Vue Gardens, off the Clapham Road in Stockwell. The well was claimed to be the origin of the name Stockwell and in 1922 was still in use 'after centuries'. From Brixton Illustrated Press November 1922
