KARL PLACE, CHINA WALK, LAMBETH

Karl Place, off China Walk in Lambeth, photographed for an article on the 'Slums of Lambeth' and described as 'a narrow, evil-looking place'. The lime-wash was apparently added a few years earlier to brighten the place up for a visit by the Prince of Wales. From Brixton Illustrated Press, dated March 1925.
