SUSSEX SCHOOL WWI FATALITIES: RENTON, GULVIN & HAYMAN

World War I deaths of old boys from Sussex Road School, Brixton. Private John Renton of the 2nd East Surrey Regiment was killed at Ypres on 9th May 1915 aged 23. Seaman Gunner Leonard S. Gulvin was killed on HMS Black Prince during the Battle of Jutland on 1st June 1916, when the ship sunk with the loss of all her 857 crew. Private Harry Hayman was killed 'somewhere in France' on 4th May 1916 aged 25 years. From Brixton Free Press, dated 7th July 1916.
