Canterbury Hall, Upper Marsh. Constructed on the site of The Canterbury Arms, the Hall was erected to provide recreation and entertainment for the 'respectable classes' and was gradually embellished and extended to accommodate almost a thousand people. Engraving from 'The Illustrated London News', December 6th 1856.
