SOUTHLANDERS

SOUTHLANDERS

The Southlanders male vocal group started in the 1950s under the leadership of Vernon Nesbeth.  Three of the original members lived in south London, resulting in the name 'Southlanders'.  The group included Harold Wilmot, father of the entertainer Gary Wilmot.  Their recordings included the Parlephone and Decca labels, with early chart hits like 'Alone' and 'Put a Light in the Window'.  Stars of stage, radio and television, they performed live at the Albert Hall in London, four times at the Palladium, the cruise liner QE2 and their performances with celebrities earned them international repute.
