‘LAMBETH BANS CHRISTMAS’ HEADLINES, BRIXTON

A lady outside a newsagents observing a 'Lambeth Bans Christmas' headline from the Evening Standard. The controversy was caused by a Lambeth Council official renaming Christmas Lights as 'Winter Lights' due to concern that the phrase would offend people from other religions.  The Council later reversed the policy and said it had been a misunderstanding caused by a 'junior-level decision'.
