ASPEN HOUSE, STREATHAM HILL

Aspen House on Streatham Hill, a large early-Victorian dwelling built in 1839 as the Roupell family home. It was purchased in 1878 at Mrs Roupell's death by William Yeats Baker, maternal grandfather of Dennis Wheatley. The site was cleared in 1923 for the construction of a tram shed, later Stratstone Garage. A real photographic postcard to Mrs Holloway from E. Herbert, postmarked 16th August 1907.  ID; IV336/14/27
