GIRL, STONHOUSE STREET, CLAPHAM

GIRL, STONHOUSE STREET, CLAPHAM

Photograph by John Webb annotated, 'Girl, Stonhouse St SW4 1972' [later identified by her sister as Claudette Jacobs]. John recalls, 'This was the street where I lived when I grew up in London. In 1972-1973 while still living in England, I photographed my family, neighbours and the people on the street. Stonhouse Street was split in two sections by Lambeth Council's housing project. Our house and that section of the street has long since gone and is unrecognisable.'

Photographer John S Webb was born in 1950 in Clapham, London. Aged 17 he became an assistant studio photographer and went on to study photography at Medway College in Rochester before moving to Sweden in 1974 and establishing his studio.
