The Swan Theatre was built in 1595 at Paris Gardens, Bankside, Southwark and was at the time the largest theatre, accommodating 3,000 people. This etching is a copy made by Aeronaut Van Buchel from the original sketch taken by John de Witt during his 1596 visit. From Surrey Print Collection, ID: SP3/951/SWA.1
