1 & 3 CHINA WALK, LAMBETH

A plan for drains at Nos 1 & 3 China Walk, Lambeth, where an infectious disease outbreak at No.3 caused the council to test for defective drains and subsequently enforce their rebuilding. The owners, Messrs W & E Stiff of the High Street, Lambeth, it was noted on 9th April 1910 initially refused to do the necessary work. However, they later responded that 'consideral trouble and delay may be caused by our letters being sent to Messrs Stiff & Sons, with which firm we have no connection'. Dated 12th May 1910.
