44 STOCKWELL PARK ROAD, STOCKWELL

No.44 Stockwell Park Road (formerly No.32), a late Regency house built by the developer William Cox c.1840. This house which adjoined Spurgeon's Orphanage was used as a working boys' hostel for those who had left school and had nowhere to go. This venture lasted from 1933 to 1938.
