FESTIVAL OF BRITAIN, SOUTH BANK, WATERLOO

Symbol of the 'Festival Star', designed by Abram Games. The Festival of Britain was held from May to September 1951. The exhibition was aimed to be a demonstration of Britain's achievements in Arts, Science, Technology and Industrial Design. It occupied approximately 27 acres of the South Bank area of Waterloo and was part of a long regeneration plan for the area. The Royal Festival Hall was built as part of the exhibition complex.
