Lambeth's first Wesleyan Chapel was in Lower Marsh. This small building, 23 feet wide by 22 feet deep, was built by Mr. John Edwards, a Methodist lay preacher in 1778. John Wesley preached here in person on January 7th 1779.  Engraving by unknown artist from an article in the Jubilee Brochure of Francis & Son, department store, December 1889.
