View of Angell Terrace from the South Gate. The terrace stands upon 'the red Washway', the footpath that was by the side of the little River Effra. It was built by James Baker, a builder of Peckham, from 1855 on part of the Angell Estate. Bankruptcy delayed the completion of the terrace and it was not fully occupied until 1868.Photograph taken in September 1898.
