The Greyhound public house at the top of Greyhound Lane, viewed from the common opposite. The Greyhound was built in 1871, replacing a much older wayside Inn, and was demolished in 1930 when the present day pub was erected. Originally known as Greyhound Place the cottages on the extreme right were residential before they were converted to shops. The taller building in the centre was built in 1878.
