STOCKWELL TRAINING COLLEGE, STOCKWELL

The British and Foreign School Society's 'Training College for Mistresses' was built by architect William Beck in 1861. The college trained school mistresses and had practising schools attached. It is now replaced by Stockwell Gardens Estate, a large LCC residential complex of five storey apartment blocks built in the 1930s.
