Terraced cottage style dwellings on Hemans Street, west of Wandsworth Road, looking towards the railway lines and the gas works beyond. These houses were demolished as part of the Hemans Street Estate development, one of the first social housing schemes to be embarked on by Lambeth Council to provide quality low cost flats as a nationwide slum-clearance programme during the late1930s. The Fount Street development, immediately south of Hemans Street, was inaugurated in October 1947.
