Myatt's Park, also known as Myatt's Fields, was originally used for market gardening and made into a public open space in the late 1880s. The land was owned by the Minets, a wealthy Huguenot family, and given to the Metropolitan Board of Works for the purpose of developing it as a public park. It was opened by the London County Council on 28 May 1889 and the bandstand was built in 1894. It still survives as an attractive park with walks, trees, a quiet garden and hard courts for games.Linskey Postcard Collection.
