COSTER’S FAREWELL TO LUPINO LANE, LAMBETH ROAD, LAMBETH

Laurie Lupino Lane, son of Lupino Lane (1892 -1959), seen here receiving a wreath from Mrs.Nellie Reardon, a coster, when his father's funeral cortege stopped outside the pub 'The Lambeth Walk' (opened by him 8 years earlier). Lupino Lane immortalised the dance,'The Lambeth Walk', in 'Me and My Girl' in his role as the cheerful cockney, Snibson. Photograph and article in a contemporary newspaper, November 1959.
