Rev. Thomas Tiplady was the superintendent at the Lambeth Mission from 1922 to 1954. He remodelled and converted the old Lambeth Methodist Chapel into The Ideal Cinema in 1928 for a pioneering new venture to widen the influence of the church through Cinema Evangelism. He also wrote many new hymns set to popular classical and folk themes which were published in America and performed frequently at the Mission services.
