NORWOOD SCHOOLS, WEST NORWOOD

NORWOOD SCHOOLS, WEST NORWOOD

The Norwood Schools, West Norwood, stood on high ground occupying about nineteen acres, with an intake of over seven hundred children who came under the operation of the Poor Law. This view shows pupils in the large dining hall at dinner-time. The procedure involved the children marching in to the hall to a band playing grace with the tables already set and the dinner served, waiting for the signal to 'fall on' before they start eating.
