WILLIAM BROWN COURT, WEST NORWOOD

William Brown Court, off Norwood Road, was built in the 1960s on the site of Thurlow Lodge, home to Lord Thurlow (1730 - 1806) the Lord Chancellor of England. The lodge was originally known as Knight's Hill Farm and was later occupied by Sir Hiram Maxim, inventor of the Maxim machine-gun. Photographed on 18th February 2004.
