The staff of Fenstanton Rest Home, Christchurch Road, Streatham on VE Day in 1945. The house was previously used for patients with mental illness before it was taken over by the London County Council. Mrs Gaston de Poitiers, the Matron, is behind the 'V' with her sister Laura on her left. The de Poitiers lived in Brussels at the time of the German invasion in 1940 and fled to London.Digital image by kind permission of Edward de Poitiers.
