CIVIL DEFENCE MEMBER PLAYING VIOLIN: WORLD WAR II

Rahja Hari Singh was a Sikh violinist who had previously been a lion tamer. He was part of the Civil Defence Light Rescue team based at the Lyham Road depot in Brixton that dealt with bombing incidents.Part of the Stanley Rothwell archive, who wrote of his wartime experiences in his memoir, 'Lambeth at War' published in 1981. From the Lambeth Archives Home Front project 2005.
