Portrait of Andrew Coltee Ducarel LLD (1713-1785), a Huguenot antiquary who was the Keeper of Lambeth Palace Library and a member of the Doctors' Commons. His book 'The History and Antiquities of the Archiepiscopal Palace of Lambeth' c.1785, was the earliest history of the Palace and Lambeth. He lived in South Lambeth Road, occupying the former home of the Tradescants.Frontispiece originally engraved by Francis Perry in 1756, from 'A Letter from Dr Ducarel to William Watson Upon Early Cultivation of Botany in England and Some particulars about John Tradescant' published in London in 1773, and bound in the parish book recording the restoration of the tomb of the Tradescants.
