STOWEY HOUSE TERRACE STEPS, SOUTH SIDE, CLAPHAM COMMON

The terrace steps in the garden of Stowey House, Clapham Common South Side. The house, originally built c.1730, was the childhood home of Lytton Strachey. It was later the home of William Henry Urwick a wine merchant until his death in 1914. Stowey was demolished in 1966 for the construction of a comprehensive school which is now Lambeth College.Watercolour by W.H.Urwick, annotated 'In my Garden'
