Looking south from the corner of Black Prince Road to the last of the Lambeth draw docks, constructed in the 1870s when business premises on Lambeth riverside were forced to relocate to the other side of the newly constructed Albert Embankment. This dock served Doulton's potteries and clay barges would be manoeuvred through a tunnel under the roadway on the tide and moored and unloaded in the dock.Digital image by kind permission of Jon Newman.
