CLAPHAM LIBRARY, CLAPHAM COMMON NORTH SIDE

Clapham Library, Clapham Common North Side, was built in a Neo-Flemish style by the architect E.B.I'Anson. The library cost £3,865 to build and an additional £1,000 to furnish. It was opened by Sir John Lubbock, Vice-chairman of the LCC, on 31st October 1889. The Library's forecourt contains the remains of a Roman altar, found in the grounds of Cavendish House on the South Side in 1907.
