BEEFEATER HOUSE, MONTFORD PLACE, KENNINGTON

BEEFEATER HOUSE, MONTFORD PLACE, KENNINGTON

The newly-built Beefeater House in Montford Place, Kennington. Originally the site belonged to Haywards the pickle manufacturers, but was bomb-damaged in World War II. This is the distiller's third London premises since the firm was established in 1820 by James Burroughs, a chemist, and is the home of Beefeater London Dry Gin. The gin is made from distilled grain spirit of about 98% pure alcohol, with added 'botanicals' - which include juniper, coriander, almond, angelica, liqurice, orris root and lemon peel.. Adjacent is the rear of 243 & 245 Kennington Lane, after restoration.
