LOGAN HICKS ARTWORK, CANS FESTIVAL, LEAKE STREET, WATERLOO

Self-portrait by American artist Logan Hicks (born c.1971) at the Cans Festival, Leake Street, Waterloo. Hicks was originally a screenprinter in Los Angeles, but sold his equipment to finance a move to New York. Here he experimented with stencilling and has since become renowned for his intricate and almost borderline obsessive stencil artworks.The Festival, which ran from 3rd-5th May, was organised by Pictures on Walls and Blank Expression with the permission of the British Rail Residuary Board and Department of Transport. It was the world's largest exhibition of stencilled street art, and featured over 40 international artists, attracting 30,000 visitors.
