PUBLIC GRAFFITI AREA, CANS FESTIVAL, LEAKE STREET, WATERLOO

Artworks being developed at the Cans Festival, Leake Street, Waterloo. This walled area, the former taxi exit ramp for the Eurostar train, was given over by the organisers to the public for their own artworks. The central poster images are by the self-taught artist Tian (born 1964) from Le Mans in France, but were not permitted to remain as the rules stated stencil artworks only.The Festival, which ran from 3rd-5th May, was organised by Pictures on Walls and Blank Expression with the permission of the British Rail Residuary Board and Department of Transport. It was the world's largest exhibition of stencilled street art, and featured over 40 international artists, attracting 30,000 visitors.
