CARNIVAL COSTUME PREPARATIONS, OVAL HOUSE, KENNINGTON

A Popeye puppet with pipe and cans of spinach being prepared at Oval House Theatre as part of South Connections participation in the 2009 Notting Hill Carnival. South Connections, one of two Lambeth mas costume bands in the carnival, has been based at the Oval House Theatre, Kennington since 1985. Two over-sized puppets were sculpted by technical artists Philip Smith and Isobel Harris from West Norwood and Lisa Edwards.
