GRANADA CINEMA, WANDSWORTH ROAD

The Granada cinema in Wandsworth Road, closed and boarded-up after wartime bomb damage, seen here shortly before re-opening in September 1949. The cinema was designed by architects E.D. Lyons, L. Israel and C.H. Elson and opened in 1936. It was in use as a Granada Bingo Club from 1965-1977 and after a period of dereliction, was converted into the London South Bank Squash and Fitness Club. Dated July 1949.
