An article from the Gentleman's Magazine dated 7th April 1739, refering to an execution at the Kennington Common gallows of three highwaymen and a housebreaker. The body of one, a shoemaker, was 'rescued' from surgeons only to be hawked unsuccessfully 'at a very cheap rate' to Apothecaries, before being buried in St George's Fields.
