VAUXHALL RAILWAY STATION FIRE, VAUXHALL

View from across the Thames of the fire at Vauxhall Railway Station in April 1856, destroying the wooden station building. A report at the time said the Windsor train stopped to set down passengers while the station was in flames, although no lives were lost. Fire engines from Price's Candleworks and Messrs Burnett & Hodges' Brewery attended the blaze.Engraving from Illustrated London News.
