SOUTH LONDON WATERWORKS PLAN, KENNINGTON

SOUTH LONDON WATERWORKS PLAN, KENNINGTON

Plan of the intended South London Waterworks at Kennington Surrey as proposed and surveyed by Ralph Dodd, Engineer, 1804. The plan for a tidal reservoir fed from the Thames was implemented in a different form, although in operation only briefly. Notable on this plan are: two bowling greens attached to public houses, The Pilgrim and The Horns; Mawbey's Pond on Upper Kennington Green; and the Windmill public house adjacent to Kennington Green, now the site of the Kennington Triangle.
