WORLD WAR II CIVIL DEFENCE CLOTHING LIST FOR WILLIAM MAIR

A form for William George Mair of 131 Lansdowne Way, from Lambeth Civil Defence General Stores listing clothing for personnel of the various services: Report and Control Centre, Decontamination Squads and Gas Identification Service, Fixed First-Aid Posts (including Public Cleaning Centres), plus First-Aid Parties (Stretcher Parties), Mobile First-Aid Posts (including mobile gas cleansing units), Messengers and Wardens. Mr Mair was an ARP Warden and clothes provided for this role were: for men - Greatcoat, battledress, beret, boots and anklets. Women were issued with - jacket greatcoat, skirt or slacks, felt hat (women drivers beret), shoes. However, the form notes that on the 6th November 1941 he was called-up for the National Fire Service.
