The Newport Street Gallery in Lambeth was built by Caruso St John Architects for the artist Damien Hirst and opened in October 2015. The £25million project added flanking wings to several Victorian theatrical scenery workshops used by Hirst since 2002 as studios, creating a 37,000 sq ft, state-of-the-art gallery to exhibit works from the artist's collection of over 2,000 artworks. Hirst is adamant that admission will be free for the public, hopefully inspiring a new generation of artists in the way that he was in his youth with access to art galleries.Digital photograph dated 24th October 2015.
