West facade of the Royal Festival Hall on the South Bank. The Hall was originally built as part of the Festival of Britain in 1951 at a cost of £2 million, to a design by the L.C.C. architect, Robert Matthew. Extensive improvements and additions were undertaken to the Hall in 1962-65 by Hubert Bennett, and again in 2006-07.
