MAGDALEN HOSPITAL GIRL AND CHAPEL
A Magdalen girl outside the hospital's chapel in St George's Fields, Southwark. The Whitechapel hospital was established in 1758 by Robert Dingley to reform female 'penitent prostitutes' and moved to St George's Fields in 1772, where it provided training in domestic service.
