Construction of an Air Raid Precaution trench on Clapham Common. From 1935 onwards the Home Office encouraged all London boroughs to plan for possible hostile air attacks, although Lambeth's emergency services were not put onto a full war footing until August 1939. From a newspaper cutting dated 7th January 1939.Part of the Lambeth Archives Home Front project 2005.
