An illustration with prose from 'America' published in 1794 by William Blake. Blake (1751 -1827) poet and artist, lived in Hercules Buildings, Lambeth with his wife Catherine from 1790 -1800. Here he wrote some of his most well-known poems including 'Songs of Experience', and 'America'. The house was demolished c.1917-18.From an engraving by Blake in 'William Blake: Painter and Poet' by Richard Garnett, published by Seeley and Co., London 1895.
